Laurieston TRA
Laurieston TRA, situated in the Gorbals area on the Southside of the River Clyde, is bounded by the Union Line Railway to the South and East and Eglington Street to the West.
Regeneration
Following stock transfer in 2003, a process of clearance and demolition ensued, adding to large areas of vacant and derelict land. The project will see the redevelopment of 13 hectares of vacant land with the delivery of up to 900 new homes.
Early phases delivered 101 multi-award winning affordable housing for social rent by New Gorbals Housing Association.
New Gorbals HA have developed a plan for a new build development of 64 Affordable homes and Community Rooms on the site of the former Coliseum Theatre.
New Gorbals HA are leading on enhancements to Cleland Lane which includes general lighting and the improvement of two railway arches plus one walk through from Gorbals St. to Laurieston Rd.
Southside HA completed the refurbishment of the former Linen Bank development in December 2019, including 6 MMR homes.
Partnership working has been key to the success of this project so far to deliver a world-class City Centre district, providing high-quality affordable new homes and a quality environment for new and existing.
Attention now moves to the North area of the TRA with the North Laurieston Strategy Group instigated a review of the area and a feasibility study is progressing. This area has complex issues relating to dereliction and neglect of buildings.
