Lord Provost Sadie Docherty laid a wreath at the Garden of Remembrance in George Square to honour those who gave their lives in conflicts.
The ceremony on Tuesday 8 November at 11 am was organised by the Royal British Legion Scotland (Legion Scotland), the nation's largest veterans' membership charity.
The Lord Provost was joined by representatives of Legion Scotland, the military, the emergency services and members of regimental associations as well as other ex-service organisations.
The Lord Provost said: "It's a privilege to join Legion Scotland and reflect on those who lost their lives to preserve our freedoms. As we continue to commemorate the centenary of the Great War it's important we don't forget the enormous debt we owe."
Kevin Gray, MM, Chief Executive Officer, Legion Scotland said: "Remembrance is at the heart of what we do and the Glasgow Garden of Remembrance is an important visual aspect of this. Each year during the remembrance period people across the country pay tribute to and remember those who have fallen. Today's ceremony allows the people of Glasgow to come together and pay their respects for the many men and women who sacrificed their lives to protect future generations."
