City Chambers Tour

When are the Public Tours ?

Public tours are conducted twice per day at 10.30am and 2.30pm Monday - Friday.  Tickets for the tour can be obtained from the City Chambers reception desk 30 minutes prior to each tour commencing.  Please note tickets are issued on a first come first served basis.

There is no facility for individuals to pre book for the tours.

If you are planning to bring a party of people on the tour you must contact the City Chambers Duty Manager in advance.

At busier times it may be necessary to limit the numbers of visitors for each tour (to a maximum of 25).

Can I Pre Book Tours ?

Organisations such as schools, youth groups, clubs and societies and travel organisations can contact the City Chambers Duty Manager and pre book a tour of the City Chambers at a mutually agreeable time. We have the facility to accommodate one group booking per day in addition to the public tours.

Note: Tours are only conducted during working hours and are not available at weekends and public holidays.

  • Guided tours will normally last for 45 minutes
  • All guided tours are free of charge

More Information

The City Chambers is a working building and due to the exigencies of the Council, occasionally guided tours have to be curtailed or cancelled. This can happen at short notice and the City Chambers Manager apologises for any inconvenience or disappointment as a result.

An access guide of the City Chambers is now available - this is a text guide which makes it easier for blind and visually impaired people to find their way to and around the City Chambers.
