FAQ's on our Car Parks
What are the opening hours of your car parks?
The majority of our car parks are open 24 hours per day. For full information on each car park click on our car parks page.
Can parking bays be reserved?
Unfortunately designated car parking bays cannot be reserved for individual use. However if you are interested in a long term parking arrangement please contact us.
What is the cost to park for 24hours in your car park?
All our car parks operate on an hourly tariff. Please visit our car parks page to view the current tariff at each car park.
Do blue badge holders have to pay for parking within your car parks?
All of our pay and display car parks are free of charge when correctly displaying a valid and disabled badge. All of our barrier car parks have designated disabled bays however payment of the car park tariff is required before you exit.
What is the height restriction for your multi-storey car parks?
The height restriction varies across the car parks, please visit our Multi-Storey Car Parks page to to see the restrictions at each car park.
Do you provide charging for electric vehicles within your car parks?
Yes, all of our multi-storey / barrier controlled car parks and our Bunhouse, Kelvingrove and Riverside Museum surface pay and display car parks currently have this facility.
Please note the hourly parking tariffs at each car park will apply.
All Council chargers are connected to the Charge Place Scotland network.
Users can register for an RFID card on their website.
Alternatively Chargers can also be accessed using the CPS mobile app.
Instructions for how to use the chargers can also be found on the CPS website here.
Tariff information and a QR code for further information is displayed on all charging units as well as on the Charge Place Scotland live maps, App and website.
Payment can be made via invoice arrangement, webpay or on some units there is the facility to use debit or credit cards.
How much is it to park in your car park overnight?
The overnight tariff at our car parks is automatically applied at 6pm. Please note, our SEC Car Park and some surface pay and display car parks do not have an overnight tariff. For information on our car park tariffs please visit our car parks page.
Do you have any guest parking deals for city centre hotels?
Yes, we have guest parking arrangements for several hotels in Glasgow, visit our Hotel Parking in Glasgow page to see who we have partnerships with.
Is there a pre pay function at any of your car parks?
Yes. Our pay machines at Cambridge Street, Charing Cross, Concert Square and Duke Street car parks all have an overnight charge pre payment facility available from 6pm onwards. SEC Car Park has a pre pay function which is available at all times. Please see the instructions on the pay machine at each car park.
Are any of your car parks staffed?
Yes, all of our multi-storey car parks have staff presence from 7am until 10pm each day with the exception of SEC Car Park which is staffed from 8.30am-10pm.
For assistance out with these times, press one of the help points (the telephone handset symbol on any pay machine or barrier column) to be connected to our control staff.
At present there are no staff based within our pay and display car parks but routine checks are carried out.
I want to enquire about using a car park for filming / taking photographs, how do I do this?
Most requests for this type of work can be accommodated, please send as much information regarding your request to parkingservices@glagow.gov.uk for this to be considered.
I have parked in one of your car parks and found the pay machine to be faulty, how do I report this?
You can report this using the online form on Glasgow City Council's parking webpage.
