Any public performance of a film exhibition is controlled by the Cinemas Act 1985.  Under the Act all cinema premises require to be licensed by the local authority.

How do I apply?

To apply for a licence, please email your completed application form (Word doc) [48KB] (opens new window)   to licensingenquiries@glasgow.gov.uk

 

How much will it cost?

Cinema Licence  - £300 (per screen) and Cinema (Transfer) - £150 (per screen)

The application will not be accepted without the correct fee.

How to make payment?

payment should be made by BACS Transfer (electronic banking) to the Licensing Board Account.  When making payments please quote your licence reference number if you are a current licence holder or quote Cinema/Premises Address if you are a new licence holder as detailed below:-

Reference: Cinema xxxx (if renewal) or Cinema/Premises Address e.g. Cinema/231 George Street

Please note your application will not be processed by the Licensing Section until the fee payment has been made. The fees are non-refundable.
