City Centre Rapid Repairs (Pilot) Project

Email (opens new window) Apply Online

The Glasgow City Centre Rapid Repairs initiative has been established to deliver targeted interventions in the public realm in support of strategic goals. Primarily aimed at commercial and retail areas within Glasgow city centre, this scheme is intended to respond to "look and feel" issues which might otherwise impact inward investment opportunities.

The key focus of this scheme is the public realm i.e. works to remedy spaces and places suffering from neglected and/or poor quality carriageway and footway. However, it may also include other areas of concern where appropriate service support can be sourced e.g. damaged street furniture, bollards, lighting, stickers/flyposting, street washing, etc.

Priority areas include areas in and around/between transport hubs and stations, the main commercial districts, and key retail destinations. Given the nature of the funding and the desire to expedite outputs, project activity is restricted to relatively compact areas to avoid the need for e.g. any associated Planning considerations, and urban/landscape design work etc. Similarly, interventions are limited to public spaces only - private land or property is not eligible.

If you are a business or commercial stakeholder of Glasgow city centre, we would like to hear from you. You know the area well and you know what matters to investors. If there is a location that needs some care and attention, please let us know through the online form.

This scheme will initially operate for one year, or until funding is exhausted. Impact will be evaluated at the end of 2025 before the project's future is considered.
