Demographic and Socio-Economic Data
The purpose of these briefing notes is to provide up-to-date information on population, socio-economic and other trends that affect Glasgow and to provide the context, additional information to make comparisons between areas and to show change over time will also be provided.
We are expecting the 2022 Census data to become available from 14th September 2023 onwards, and will continue the briefings from then on. The first results will be about total population and the age composition; we will make comparisons over time and with other areas.
We will also continue to provide information from other data sources as and when they become available.
Future Briefings
Future briefings will look at the:
- Components of population change such as birth, deaths and migration trends.
- How they affect different areas in different ways.
- How they interlink with measures of deprivation, employment and other indicators.
- Non-Glasgow Conurbation (NGC): this combines the local authorities surrounding Glasgow: (East and West Dunbartonshire, Inverclyde, North and South Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire).
We are fully aware that the impact of COVID-19 will be a major influence on these trends and for that reason the briefings will be under constant scrutiny and comment.
