We need to reduce levels of harmful vehicle emissions in our city centre. These can cause health problems, particularly for those most vulnerable.

That's why on 1 June 2023, Glasgow's Low Emission Zone (LEZ) came into force.

There are some exemptions, including for Blue Badge holders. You can find out more about national LEZ exemptions by clicking on this link.

Motorcycle and mopeds are unaffected by LEZ schemes in Scotland.

You cannot pay to enter a LEZ in Scotland.

All vehicles entering the city centre zone area must meet the less-polluting emission standards or face a penalty charge. The initial penalty charge rate is set at £60. The rate will double however with each subsequent breach of LEZ rules. Full details about the operation of LEZ penalties can be found here.
