Sexual Entertainment Venue Licence
Important Information
Please note that as of 24 September 2022 all SEVs in Glasgow require a SEV Licence to operate as a SEV.
For SEVs currently in existence, applications for a SEV Licence should be submitted to the Licensing Section no later than Thursday 14 July 2022. This will allow the Licensing & Regulatory Committee to determine the application before 24 September 2022.
All applications will be referred to the Licensing and Regulatory Committee to determine.
How to apply for a SEV Licence?
You can apply for a SEV Licence Online. Please ensure you have read the Licensing and Regulatory Committee's Sexual Entertainment Venue Policy Statement and separately the Guidance on Applying prior to submitting your application.
How much does a SEV Licence cost?
- Grant of a SEV Licence is £1,882
- Renewal of a SEV Licence is £1,882
- There is no fee for a variation of a SEV Licence
Please note your application will not be processed until payment is made.
How to make Payment
Payment should be made by BACS Transfer (electronic banking) to the Licensing Board Account. When making payments please quote your licence reference number if you are a current licence holder or provide your SEV/Premises Address if you are a new licence holder as detailed below:-

Please note that your application will not be formally lodged until payment has been received. The fees are non-refundable.
Can anyone object to the SEV application?
Anyone can object, The Licensing Section will send a copy of the SEV Licence application to the following consultees:
- Elected Members for the area;
- Community Council for the area;
- Council's Building Standards;
- Council's Environmental Health;
- Health and Social Care Partnership;
- Glasgow Violence Against Women Partnership;
- Police Scotland (statutory consultee); and
- Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (statutory consultee).
The consultees will have to submit their response within the 28 day consultation period.
The legislation also permits any member of the public to submit an objection or representation to a SEV licence application. Objections/representations must be in writing (email is acceptable), specify the grounds for objection/representation, the name and address of the person making the objection/representation and be provided to the Local Authority by emailing Licensing Section or in writing by post to Licensing Section, City Chambers, George Square, G2 1DU, no later than 28 days from the date specified in the site notice/advert. Please note that if posting your application it should be received at the Licensing Section within the 28 day period.
Consideration of Late Objections and Representations
Although the Local Authority is under a duty to consider any objections or representations made within the timescale detailed above, it does have discretion to hear late objections/representations provided it is satisfied with the reasons for lateness. Where a late objection/representation has been received it will be passed to the applicant to enable them to consider it in case the Committee determine to hear the late it.
