Council to dispose of land at former Davislea Care Home for new social housing
Approval to negotiate the disposal of land - at the former Davislea Care Home at 100 Mallaig Road in Drumoyne - to Linthouse Housing Association to build new social housing was given by a Glasgow City Council committee today (27 February).
Negotiations with the housing association will now begin on three parcels of land on the site, and if successful, this disposal would allow a total of 38 homes for social housing to be built there by the housing association.
The three parcels of land measure 0.63 acres and adjoin the site of the former care home.
This land was declared surplus to council requirements on 20 January.
Councillor Ruairi Kelly, Convener for Housing, Development and Land Use at Glasgow City Council, said: "Today's decision to begin negotiations with Linthouse Housing Association is good news for this part of Glasgow and the wider city. The disposal of this land would both bring 38 much needed homes for social housing and generate a capital receipt for the council in a challenging environment for public finances."
