Feel empowered to take action at home and at work!

Important new GOLD course for you to take - helping us all to learn about how energy is created and how we can take changes to reduce emissions and cost from energy.

Climate education is an essential step in helping us all to take action to reduce emissions and build resilience to the effects of the changing climate. The Climate Literacy GOLD course was launched in September 2023 and provides an introduction to climate science, mitigation and adaptation. To date, over 800 people have completed the course gaining the knowledge and understanding needed to support action within our roles at Glasgow City Council and in our personal lives.

Following on from the introductory course, it is important to continue building knowledge and understanding of relevant climate change topics. During the training, we learned that creating and using energy creates emissions which contribute to climate change. Not only does energy contribute to climate change, but it also costs a lot of money and in 2024 the cost of this energy for Glasgow City Council was over £42 million. Therefore, it is important that we all learn about how energy is created and how we can take changes to reduce emissions and cost from energy.

The new 'Energy Efficiency Awareness for Glasgow City Council' GOLD course aims to increase your awareness of energy efficiency and make you feel empowered to take action at work and at home.

Understanding why reducing energy consumption is so important will help us all to reduce emissions from energy and also take action to tackle rising costs. The new Energy Efficiency GOLD course is a resource which provides everyone with the understanding and tools needed to get involved at work and in our everyday lives."
