Civic Functions

Civic hospitality is offered to those eligible citizens and visitors to Glasgow. The Lord Provost has delegated authority to approve such hospitality. We also offer civic hospitality at various events based on the following criteria;

  • conferences or other significant events organised by national or international organisations;
  • city-wide organisations celebrating either 50 years or centenaries thereafter of their founding;
    • where national organisations receive an anniversary Civic Reception from the City, Local branches would not be eligible for a further separate Civic Reception
  • organisations rendering service or bringing prestige to the city;
  • charitable organisations, only in respect of events of a special or extraordinary nature.

Requests for civic hospitality should be sent at least 12 weeks in advance of date request by email or made in writing to:
