School fuel zone serves up a Christmas Feast

The Council's Fuel Zones are cooking up some festive cheer this week in over 180 primary and secondary schools across Glasgow, offering a jolly three course Christmas lunch-time feast.

Fuel Zone staff will be carving up a whopping 555 turkeys, peeling 1,800kg potatoes and chopping up to 775kg carrots, which will be served alongside countless gallons of gravy.

The menu offers different main meal choices including traditional turkey served with all the trimmings alongside the usual items of fruit, vegetables, bread and milk. Halal and vegetarian options normally provided in schools will also be available to pupils.

Councillor Chris Cunningham, City Convener for Education, Skills and Early Years said "The annual Christmas lunch is a highlight in the Fuel Zone calendar and our catering team always excel themselves in providing a delicious meal for pupils.

"We hope that the pupils enjoy their lunch and that it gets them into the festive spirit, we would like to wish them all a very Merry Christmas."
