Let's Grow Together Fund

JPG

This year's round of the Let's Grow Together Fund has received applications from over 40 organisations citywide to support the delivery of the aims of the Food Growing Strategy with the fund value having been oversubscribed by more than £60k expressing the demand to increase food growing capacity across the city.

This inevitably led to some tough decisions being made around some very strong applications and while we understand it will be disappointing to unsuccessful applicants this year, we trust you will try again in next year's round of funding. Please keep an eye on the web page for further details on this later in the year.

Successful applicants have been advised and payments are being processed.

We look forward to their projects developing and more people across the city taking part in growing their own produce and hearing how you get on with spending the funding provided to support your project delivery.

Congratulations to the 15 successful projects and we look forward to supporting further projects in next year's funding round.

Overview

The Let's Grow Together Fund was created to support communities to create, access, and celebrate growing spaces within Glasgow and in this way increase the opportunities for citizens to grow their own fruit and vegetables locally.

This is an annual fund of £50,000 which was introduced to support the aims of the current iteration of Glasgow's Food Growing Strategy (2020-25). Capital grants between £500 and £5,000 were available per project in 2024/25.

The deadline for applications for the 2024/25 round of the Fund was 25 June 2024. The Fund is now closed for applications.

Fund Criteria

  • Projects must contribute to increasing the number of food growing spaces across the City, which can include but is not limited to meeting the demand for allotments, community gardens or market gardens.
  • Each project proposal should also address one of the following themes:
    • Supporting the creation and maintenance of good quality, multifunctional open space to help reconnect communities with nature;
    • Supporting food waste reduction and reuse of materials in the community;
    • Protecting and enhancing biodiversity in the City;
    • Promoting and supporting improved physical, mental and emotional health & wellbeing;
    • Sharing the benefits of climate action across the community;
    • Supporting the creation and development of urban market gardening and farming.

These themes are linked with  Glasgow City Council's Climate Plan (PDF) [15MB] (opens new window) ,   Strategic Plan 2022-2027 (PDF) [15MB] (opens new window)  as well as the City Food Plan.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Constituted not-for-private-profit third sector or community organisations and schools, with a bank account, are eligible to apply. Such organisations can apply on behalf of growers' or community groups without a governing document or bank account.
  • Applicants must have the relevant insurance and permissions required to take their proposal forward.
  • More than one application can be made by the same organisation, but no organisation or partnership will receive more than 10% of the total grant money available per year.
