Wild-siders Wanted
Come along and Grow Wild at Pollok Country Park.
Britain has lost 97% of its wildflower habitat and, as a result, has seen a huge decline in many of the important insect species that depend on it. Now, more than ever, our wildlife needs your help!
Glasgow's Flower Power is an exciting new project which brings flower power to the people of Glasgow. We are looking for keen volunteers to help establish a community-run flower nursery at Pollok Country Park; growing native wildflowers which will restore these strikingly beautiful habitats.
Forming strong connections with individuals, groups and nature, our aim is to reverse the decline of meadow and insect species through propagating and nurturing locally sourced seed and plants. Creating new meadows across the City, we will benefit all creatures great and small; including ourselves!
Volunteering in nature can be a great boost for your physical and mental wellbeing, so why not take a walk on the wild-side? Grow Wild and come along to one of our free training events to boost your skills set; whether it's bumblebee identification or seed gathering and sowing.
What is Glasgow's Flower Power?
Glasgow's Flower Power is a joint community transformation project between Glasgow City Council's Natural Environment Team, Grow Wild (part of Kew Gardens) and The Conservation Volunteers (TCV). To keep updated on our progress, or to find out how to take part in this or other Grow Wild projects around Glasgow visit Grow Wild UK website
Where are we?

What are we doing?
Whether you want a good workout or like to take pride in a job well done, there is a year-round volunteering programme which will benefit both you and the environment. These tasks are suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities and will include seed gathering, sowing, potting-on and planting the next generation of wildflowers - as well as carrying out wildlife surveys and other habitat improvements with the Countryside Ranger team.
What time does it open?
The wildflower nursery will be accessible to the public every day, from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
To volunteer and give nature a helping hand, the Flower Power team will meet every second Sunday from the 7 of August onwards, between the hours of 10am and 3pm - Refreshments will be provided, so just bring sturdy footwear and a packed lunch!
How can I join?
