Ross, William MacKintosh 40124 (1893 - 1916)

William was the son of Mr James Ross, 22 Carmichael Street, Govan, Glasgow.
He was on the office staff of Messrs Archd. Arrol & Sons, Ltd., Alloa Brewery.
He joined the 5th Scottish Rifles in February 1916 and was drafted to France in July 1916 where he served with the 10th Battalion of the same regiment.
On 16th September 1916 he died of wounds received in action the previous day and was buried at Millencourt near Albert, France. Private Ross was 23 years of age.
