Glasgow schools are top of the class as national awards finalists

Finalists announced for Scottish Education Awards 2016
Three teachers and three schools in Glasgow have beaten off stiff competition from across Scotland to be selected as finalists at this year's Scottish Education Awards.
Abercorn Secondary School has been selected as a finalist for the Gaelic Education Award, Saint Roch's Secondary School is in the running for the Sciences, Technologies, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Award, and St Albert's Primary School has been shortlisted for the Creative Learning Award.
Sheona Allen, Headteacher at Caledonia Primary and Language and Communication Resource (LCR) has been named as a finalist in the prestigious Headteacher of the Year Award category.
Additionally, Janet Mulraine, Depute Head at Dalmarnock Primary School and Carol McManus, Principal Teacher of Pastoral Care at Saint Roch's Secondary, have both been named as finalists for the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Bailie Liz Cameron, Executive Member for Children, Young People & Lifelong Learning, said: "These are fantastic awards and all of our teachers and schools work tirelessly to make sure all our children have equal access to a quality education. I'm delighted for the individuals and schools who have been shortlisted this year - very worthy choices and I wish them all the very best of luck at the awards ceremony."
People in Glasgow are being thanked for nominating their local schools, nurseries and individuals for the Scottish Education Awards 2016 so their achievements can be recognised.
