Hundreds of volunteers collected 95 bags of rubbish in a community action day in Anderston.
Almost 170 pupils from Anderston Primary, St Patrick's Primary and Glasgow Gaelic School, Berkeley Street, took part in a community blitz with help from the city's Environmental Task Force.
Rain failed to deter the youngsters as they did their bit for their community and spent two hours collecting rubbish dropped by litter-bugs.
Task Force staff helped the pupils after kitting them out with litter pickers and high-visibility vests. They also removed all the bags of rubbish collected at the end of the event. Volunteers from the Salvation Army, the Marriott Hotel, McDonalds in Finnieston and Tesco Express in Argyle Street also took part in the activities.
Primary five and six pupils from Anderston Primary were among the clean-up crew.
Liz Hendry, Head Teacher, said: "The clean-up reinforced topics which the pupils are learning in class about caring for the environment. They enjoyed it, despite the rain and events such as this, definitely bring it home to them just how much litter is dropped, and that they should always use bins."
Councillor Frank McAveety, Leader of Glasgow City Council and Chair of the Environmental Task Force, congratulated the volunteers on their hard work.
He said: "The energy and enthusiasm which the youngsters put into this event was fantastic. All the volunteers pitched in to do their bit, with support from the Task Force and the results were amazing. It was a great example of true Glasgow teamwork."
