Climate Ready Apprenticeship
The Climate Ready Modern Apprentice Program supports Glasgow City Council's Youth Strategy and directly links to Glasgow City Council Strategic Plan. In particular the grand challenges to reduce poverty and inequality in our communities, increase opportunity and prosperity for all our citizens and enable staff to deliver essential services in a sustainable, innovative and efficient way for our communities.
The Strategic Plan works side by side with our Climate Plan and our aspirations to be Net Zero by 2030. We view our young people as a key component to make this become a reality.
The Climate Ready Apprentice Program is specific to NRS.
Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability (NRS) is the largest department of Glasgow City Council. NRS delivers essential services which are designed to help achieve the aim of creating a cleaner, safer, better Glasgow.

- carries out road maintenance for highways, cycle paths, local walks, etc supported by Civil, Structural and Lighting Engineers and operations staff.
- collects recycling and waste in all its forms using an extensive fleet which are maintained by their mechanics.
- monitors air pollution and tests food and other consumables.
