Walking
Walking

Walking is the most natural physical activity that most of us can do. It is simple and convenient for most people and offers us free exercise that can be incorporated into our daily routines and at our own pace. It is also environmentally friendly.
While there are many benefits to walking there may be a number of reasons why you may choose not to walk to work/whilst at work. These can include the distance, weather conditions, the time it takes and also concerns for your own safety. Our Staff Travel Plan is looking at ways in which we can support you to consider walking as an active travel choice.
You told us...
"One in ten of you wanted facilities to dry out wet clothes - this would encourage you to walk to work"
"We need more facilities such as places to wash or locations to heat up in after walking - especially in the winter"
Review the findings of our recent office and depot audit to put in place a plan to improve facilities, where appropriate, to help make active travel easier - such as drying rooms. |
Continue our work with Corporate HR to resume our staff walking groups - to help encourage you to be more active during the working day |
Continue our work with our public transport partners, ScotRail, SPT and bus operators, to make sure that pedestrian facilities are fit for purpose around public transport hubs/locations |
Deliver our safe Active Travel routes across the city through our City Network - to help connect people and city locations through walking, wheeling and cycling. |
Provide you with key travel information local to your place of work - to help you find suitable walking routes and distances to local public transport locations. |
